As children of YAHUVEH GOD, our Faith is based in, and on the Word of GOD – which is YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH (the Word made flesh) – John 1:14. Let’s look at John 6:47-58.

47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.

YAHUSHUA said: “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” and that “I am that bread of life.” Why? Because YAHUSHUA is the manifested will of YAHUVEH GOD – He is the Word of GOD. To believe and follow YAHUSHUA is to believe and follow YAHUVEH GOD, for they are One. This is why YAHUSHUA is Way, Truth, and Life. John 14:6. The Word of YAHUVEH GOD shows us the way, His Word Is Truth, and His Word bring Life as spoken of in Deuteronomy 30:15-16 and verse 19 – 20.

See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; 16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. Deuteronomy 30: 15-16.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. Deuteronomy 30:19-20.

Life, is to obey YAHUVEH GOD and to “walk in His ways, to keep Him commandments, statues, and judgements”. This is Life, death is to disobey and rebel. As written in verse 19, YAHUVEH GOD is our life. To turn away from Him is to turn away from Life.

49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

To eat the Bread which YAHUSHUA is speaking of is to believe in Him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3.

52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Unless we believe in YAHUSHUA, and accept the blood He shed at Calvary as the atonement for our sins – we have no life in us.

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

Communion is sanctification through the Blood of YAHUSHUA and Faith in the Word of GOD. The fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, yet they perished, not all made it to the promised land, and not all made it to heaven.

Vs 47 states that all who believe on YAHUSHUA have everlasting life (Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.), also relating to this verse:

And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. Deuteronomy 8:2-3

The Word of YAHUVEH GOD must abide in us, we must store it in our hearts. This is what communion represents. The Blood washes us from sin, and the Word of YAHUVEH GOD which is life lives in us. YAHUSHUA said to do this in remembrance of HIM, for He came that we may be one with Him, and He with us. Man is not to live by bread alone (feeding of the flesh), but also by the Living Bread – which is YAHUVEH’s Word because it gives us Life, and Life more abundantly!
