2 Peter 3 – The Lord is not slack concerning His promise. He will Return, Just as He Said.
The Second Epistle of The Apostle Peter which is written to “stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:”. A pure mind, or a mind of faith. A mind believing in the promises of YAHUVEH GOD. A mind that that is not contaminated with lies of the devil or world.
The Apostle Peter writes this letter to encourage the Church that Lord YAHUSHUA will indeed return to Earth. Just as the worlds are framed and held together by the Word of YAHUVEH GOD, so is the return of The King of kings insured by the Word of YAHUVEH GOD – It will come to pass.

The epistle helps us understand that by remembrance of YAHUVEH’s Word and Works, our faith (pure minds) is stirred or increased. Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17).
In this chapter, the Apostle Peter reminds fellow believers of the promise of YAHUSHUA Messiah
“that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” 2 Peter 3:2-3.
Before the Lord YAHUSHUA returns to this earth, there will be scoffers, people driven by lust (money, fame, glory, hunger), speaking against Holiness and reviling those who live for YAHUVEH GOD. They will question and deny the coming of the Lord YAHUSHUA, mocking and insulting those who hold onto the promises of GOD.
These who mock forget that it is by the Word of YAHUVEH GOD (YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH is the Word made flesh) that the earth and heavens where made, and remain. The world is framed and held together by the Word of GOD. Hebrews 11:3/Psalm 33:9/John 1:3. As YAHUSHUA said concerning the promises of YAHUVEH GOD: And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Luke 16:17. All that YAHUVEH GOD has promised will come to pass.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
GOD flooded the earth at one point because of iniquity (Genesis 6:17), He then promised not to destroy earth with water again. This time, fire is prepared for the ungodly.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
We may think that it’s taking too long. Many would love to see YAHUSHUA come tomorrow, better yet, we’d love to see our Lord NOW! Yet we must understand that all things must be fulfilled before the coming of the Lord YAHUSHUA. Everything written and prophesied by true Holy prophets must come to pass before He sets foot on this Earth.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
GOD is not dragging His feet concerning His promises – if YAHUSHUA came right now, how many people would go to heaven? He is longsuffering, having patients and mercy on us, that we may be found ready without spot or wrinkle and that more souls may be reached for Him – the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation (verse 15). If YAHUSHUA came right now how many people would go to Heaven? YAHUSHUA said that one thing keeping Him back is what He is coming back for – His church. He is coming back to a church without spot or wrinkle, and for the most part, we are not ready.
When YAHUSHUA comes, it will be as a thief in the night. It will be so unexpected for the lukewarm and those living in the world. But for His Bride, as spoken in the parable of the Five wise virgins in Matthew 25. They will not be caught unaware, for they are preparing themselves even now. They are living their lives as if The Lord YAHUSHUA is coming tomorrow. Enoch and Elijah were raptured from Earth and did not see death – why? Because they pleased ABBA YAHUVEH exceedingly.
This is Enoch’s testimony: By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Hebrews 11:5.
Both of these men knew when they would leave the Earth, Elijah knew exactly when it would be – likewise the Bride of YAHUSHUA will know when their Bridegroom returns, for there will be a cry made in the midnight hour – Matthew 25:6. He is coming soon, the Bride has extra oil in their lamps, they are living Holy lives, doing the work of YAH on this earth, without compromise, in love, worship, and obedience unto ABBA YAHUVEH.
On that day great day – 2 Peter 3:11-13. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Of course, this world will not last forever. Don’t build in sand, rather build on the living rock, which is YAHUSHUA. This earth shall perish, our treasures need to be stored in the kingdom of Heaven where thieves cannot break in, and moth cannot corrupt.
Since we look for such promises, we are to insure that we are found without spot or wrinkle, that when YAHUSHUA returns we may go and be where He is. The long-suffering of GOD leads to salvation. Guard your faith, do not be led away by false doctrines through itching ears. “Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18.
