Hebrews 9 – The Sacrifices of The Law and The Sacrifice of JESUS Christ
All ordinances of the law, or the old testament represented YAHUSHUA the Messiah and His gift at Calvary. In the law, priests where made to sacrifice and worship daily by entering into the holy place. The sanctuary, or the Holy place where only priests where to enter. This holy place hosted a candle stand (possibly those used in Hannukah) and a table which supported the Holy Bread. Vs 2
The candle stick represents the truth of GOD. YAHUSHUA is the light of the World, follow Him and you will find eternal life. The showbread represents the word of GOD. “…That man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.” Deuteronomy 8:3
The second veil, or curtain lead to the ‘Holiest of all’. Which housed the golden censer, the ark of the covenant, a golden pot with manna, the tables of the covenant, and Aaron’s rod that budded. The high priest was the only one that ministered in the Holiest place, alone – and not without blood which he offered for his own sins and for the sins of the people.
In verse 8, we understand that the way into the Holiest of all was not yet created. I’m guessing that the holiest of all would be the very presence of YAHUVEH Elohim
vs 9, the fact that daily sacrifices where required could not make the conscious of the one sacrificing perfect. The law stood to show the people of their need of GOD’s Salvation – YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH.
The blood of goats purified the flesh, how much more does the Blood of Christ through the Holy Spirit purge our conscience from dead work? Vs 14
vs 17, a testament is a force only after the testator is dead. The first testament was dedicated with blood, does this mean that the testators where animals? Animals are flesh and blood, worldly, belonging to the earth, which will pass away. Thus signifying that the old testament, which depended on animal blood was only temporary.
The new testament which depended on the Blood of the Son of GOD, YAHUSHUA, who is not of this world, would then remain forever. As Hebrews continues to say in chapter 1, verse 10-11,
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Thus showing that the old testament is was going to pass away, it was built of earth and represented the perfect covenant that GOD would make with his people. Vs 11, Christ was made High pries of a ‘greater and more perfect tabernacle’. A tabernacle not of earth, but heavenly. He entered into the ‘holiest of all’ – the very presence of GOD, not with blood of goats and lambs, but with his own perfect blood as an offering for sin once and for all.
Vs 16 states that
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Suggesting that the testators of the old testament was goats and lambs, but of the New testament the very Son of GOD. Not only is YAHUSHUA the testator, but he is also the Mediators of the New Testament which is founded on better promises and eternal life.
vs 18, neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. Both testaments were dedicated with blood. When Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book and all the people, vs 20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God has enjoined unto you. 21 Moreover he sprinkled likewise with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
The blood of goats and lambs, along with the books of the law where enjoined with the people and all the vessels in the tabernacle. Signifying that it was all of this world. All temporary. The law, along with the vessels in the tabernacle and people became One. None was eternal, therefor the old testament was only temporary.
The new testament on the other hand enjoins the people with GOD, YAHUSHUA. The word of GOD is written in their hearts, GOD lives in Their hearts, their bodies became the very tabernacle of GOD. The blood of YAHUSHUA not only purges our mind clean from sin, but it purges our bodies. Christ became one with us. Hebrews 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Jeremiah 31:33-34
Again, the blood of YAHUSHUA ha MASIACH enjoins us to GOD, we are his People, and he is our GOD. His commandments are written in our hearts, and he gives us the desire to do his will. YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH is eternal, if we being his bethren and sisters are one with him then we too have eternal life through him.
